About John
John with Neil close at hand
Having returned from the Costa del Sol, John is now performing his Neil Diamond Tribute show all over Europe. In 2004/05 he appeared on both UK Radio and Television and he has been interviewed on various Spanish Radio stations. His career began over 35 years ago, when he sang on television at the age of 13 with Film and Stage star Stubby Kaye (Best known for "Guys and Dolls" and "Cat Ballou") in a show called "Stubby's Silver Star Show".
He later turned full time professional supporting many of the leading lights of the show business world. He then went on to take leading roles in Musicals and Pantomime.
As a regular performer at Variety Club functions, John has gained the following and respect from many of the UK's leading showbiz personalities such as Bruce Jones, Coronation Street's Les Battersby, and recently appeared at the Mijas Playa Restaurant in Spain, at which both Cilla Black and Anthony Worrall Thompson attended and complemented the performance.
In December 2007 one of his shows was attended by former Top of the Pops and Radio 1 DJ Bruno Brookes, who described the show as "brilliant".
The "Shades of Diamond" show features many songs such as the major hits, Sweet Caroline, Cracklin' Rosie, Love on the Rocks, etc., and others that are for the real connoisseur, such as Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show, Sooliamon, and many other songs for the fans of Neil Diamond. The show is based on the 2002 "Stages" tour and John's hand made Neil Diamond style beaded shirts are simply fantastic, all individually designed to emulate the legends trade mark appearance.
John is also a very accomplished musician and guitarist which only adds more to the authentic flavour of the show. Striving for perfection in his performances, he will often travel great distance to study Neil Diamond's live shows first-hand. He can be seen pictured above taking in the recent concert in London which was recorded exclusively for BBC Radio 2.
In the last few months John has been working with some top entertainers, such as the former "Rockin' Berries" front man, Terry Webster, Nicky Newsome from TV's "New Comedians", Elvis Bettini (the one legged Elvis in "Phoenix Nights") and the son of the one and only Matt Monro, Matt Monro Jnr.
Additionally to this John also performs a mixed set that covers from the Swing of the 1940's to present day. Songs by many other artistes are featured within this set which is also great to dance to.
The show is ideal for Corporate functions, Weddings, Private parties, Theatres, Hotels, Cabaret Clubs etc. and distance is no object.
